She has worked in community outreach and in several organizations across different cities and provinces. Amy worked as a Social Worker at one of Canada’s leading academic hospitals as well as with palliative/hospice patients and their families. In addition, she has spent most of her career working with those experiencing intimate partner violence and unhealthy relationships.
Amy’s specialties include issues such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress management, trauma, addictions, intimate partner violence, and narcissism. She helps individuals and families living with physical disabilities, chronic illness, and mental health disorders. In addition, she specializes in counselling athletes in their sport for optimal performance.

Approach to Supervision

Welcome to Stephens Counselling! We understand that clinical supervision is key to the development of a competent professional. A clinical supervisor engages with a supervisee to promote the professional growth of the supervisee, enhance the supervisee’s safe and effective use of self in the therapeutic relationship, discuss the direction of therapy and safeguard the well-being of the client. As a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, Amy meets all of the requirements to provide supervision to Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying), Registered Psychotherapists, Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has completed 30+ hours of supervisor coursework and extensive direct client contact hours to offer the best supervision experience. She believes that the supervisor-supervisee relationship is key to successful growth and development as a psychotherapist. Amy offers free 30 minute phone consults for professional supervisees interested in starting supervision. Please email [email protected] to set up your consult today! We also offer a psychotherapy Intern Program.
