About Me

I’m a trauma specialist with 16 years of clinical experience and learning to share with you. In my practice, I use a relational, emotion-focused approach as my foundation as well as various somatic modalities: Somatic Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, and Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment.

I have worked in hospitals, non-profits, and, for the last several years, in private practice. I came to psychotherapy through the spiritual care route: I did a Master of Divinity at U of T with a focus on the spiritual care of people with severe mental illness, followed by a year of intensive relational psychotherapy training in hospitals (known as Clinical Pastoral Education, or CPE).

My special interest for the first several years of my career, and the topic of my Master’s thesis, was spiritual care for people experiencing psychosis. I went on to work as a Spiritual Care Provider in a general hospital, where my main focuses were psychiatry (inpatient and outpatient), palliative care, and supporting parents through miscarriage and stillbirth. In later years, I worked in community mental health in inner city boarding homes. My inner city work impressed upon me the severe and lifelong effects that trauma can have, so I developed a specialization in trauma, leaving the non-profit world for private practice during the pandemic.

Approach to Supervision

My approach to Clinical Supervision is collaborative and dynamic, gentle and insightful. I have a long professional history to draw on, and I am honoured to offer that as a resource, but the development of your professional identity is the central focus of our work together. We will focus not just on your skills and your toolkit, but on your inner process, so that you are able to show up fully aware and fully present with your clients. In IFS we would call that being “Self-Led”: when you are your most compassionate, curious, confident self. Supervision is a lab for self-regulation and growth, both personal and professional. Together, we might inquire: what’s going on with your nervous system? What’s happening for you emotionally as you work? What are the factors influencing your capacity, and how close are you to your limit? I will help you build the foundation to be a strong, resilient, and sensitive professional, so you can be a safe resource for your clients, and so your work will bring you fulfillment and joy for years to come.
