About Me

Daniel Farb is an integrative psychotherapist registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). He studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Toronto and went on to complete his master’s degree in counselling and psychotherapy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). He has worked extensively with individuals and families affected by mental health and addiction issues on their paths of recovery, and is particularly interested in helping people heal from the effects of developmental, relational, and attachment-based trauma.

As an integrative psychotherapist, he draws on a variety of different theoretical orientations, approaches, and techniques in my work with clients. Operating from a humanistic, person-centered, and existentialist framework, he is influenced by modern psychodynamic (especially relational and attachment theory) and family-systems (internal and external) approaches. In addition, he regularly incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, mindfulness, and sensorimotor (body-focused) interventions into his practice.

Approach to Supervision

Daniel’s supervision style is also integrative with an emphasis on attunement to the professional development needs of supervisees. Supervisees can expect to examine individual cases to work through stuck points as well as attending to broader themes that tend to affect most (if not all) therapists. He pays special attention to the quality of the supervisory relationship, using here-and-now experiences to draw attention to potential parallels in supervisees’ work with clients (when relevant). Daniel meets the CRPO’s Clinical Supervision Criteria and can provide supervision and case consultations to both fully registered and qualifying therapists.
