About Me

Hi, I’m Avril!

I’m a dual college registered Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Social Worker, Canadian Certified Counsellor, and Ontario Validated Clinical Supervisor providing reflective, relational, and clinically grounded supervision for therapists across Ontario.

My approach blends warmth, honesty, and depth with strong attention to ethics, clinical formulation, documentation, risk assessment, and therapist development.

I specialize in clinical supervision, consultation, and therapist development. My clinical work includes trauma, perinatal mental health, women’s reproductive mental health, attachment, complex presentations, and therapist use of self. My approach is informed by psychodynamic and relational practice, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS). I also teach in continuing education settings and support therapists at many stages of practice, from newer clinicians building confidence to experienced therapists navigating complex clinical and ethical work.

Supervisees often describe me as approachable, direct, thoughtful, and deeply invested in helping them grow into the kind of therapist they want to become. I believe good supervision should feel both supportive and challenging. A space where you can think out loud, explore uncertainty honestly, strengthen your clinical judgment, and develop confidence without fear of shame around what you do not yet know.

I offer individual, dyadic, group, and intensive supervision options for therapists seeking a collaborative and growth-oriented supervisory relationship.

Approach to Supervision

My approach to supervision is reflective, relational, and clinically grounded. I believe supervision should be a space where therapists feel supported enough to be honest about uncertainty, while also being challenged to deepen their clinical thinking, ethical decision-making, and use of self. I focus heavily on clinical formulation, documentation, ethics, risk assessment, and helping therapists develop confidence in how they make sense of their work. Rather than teaching one rigid modality, I aim to help supervisees strengthen their overall clinical judgment, develop a stronger therapeutic presence, and build the ability to think critically and flexibly across complex situations. My supervision style blends warmth, directness, curiosity, and accountability. I value creating a space where therapists can think out loud, ask questions without fear of shame, and explore both client dynamics and their own internal responses within the therapeutic relationship. I work from a relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and systems-informed lens, while also integrating approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed practice, and women’s reproductive and perinatal mental health frameworks where relevant. I view supervision as both a professional and developmental process. My goal is not simply to help therapists “do therapy correctly,” but to support them in becoming more grounded, ethical, reflective, and confident clinicians over time.
